"Bassen" Textile Discharge Drawing

“Bassen” (抜染) is a traditional technique to make patterns by discharging the dyed-fabric with bleaches.  In this workshop, we introduce the discharge powder especially made for Yamato Indigo Dye and show you two unique ways to use it. You will create your own patterns on a pre-dyed bandana or tenugui (Japanese tea towel) and on a tote bag that we provide.
This workshop is recommended for absolute beginners as well as intermediates. No previous dyeing experience is necessary. Materials and tools are included in the price, including pre-dyed fabric. Bring-in material is not allowed in this class.
