Sashiko Furoshiki

Each of the four corners of this Furoshiki has Sashiko stitching — running stitch embroidery in two traditional patterns: Shippo, stylized representation of a gem stone and Hishi, the diamond motif, stylized representation of the fruit or leaves of the water plant Hishi (water caltrop). Sashiko stitching served both a decorative and practical purpose, as it reinforced the edges of cloth. This deep indigo cloth with beautiful fades is perfect for a unique coverlet or a wall hanging.
