These lightweight room shoes feature a dense geometric design in dark gray, crafted using the SAKIORI technique by HAJIME SHOJI. Created from repurposed vintage AMAMI OSHIMA TSUMUGI and kimonos, they represent the rich heritage of Amami Oshima’s 1,300-year-old silk weaving tradition.
In SAKIORI, old textiles are gently washed, torn into strips, and woven with new silk threads to create a durable and resilient fabric. Under the guidance of eighth-generation craftsman Tadaaki Hajime, HAJIME SHOJI brings this traditional art into a modern context, offering comfort and warmth through the textured, handwoven material.
